Upcoming Seminar May 1st
There is an exciting opportunity coming up on Saturday, May 1st. My friend Rev. Stan Power and the folks at Sonrise Full Gospel Church in Surrey are sponsoring a seminar directed to local church leaders. The focus is: what does it mean to be a 'Missional' church today. (see below.) Both speakers are from our Fellowship, Rev Wes Mills is the President of ACOP and Rev. Kenn Parker serves part time as our National Director.
The seminar runs from 10:am - 3:00pm. For us it means taking the early ferry out of Long Harbour and returning late the same. The cost: for you nothing! The board has given approval to cover the travel and seminar registration cost for any church members who would like to attend. This seminar is not for everyone but if you are a leader I would encourage you to sign up. If you lead a Sunday school class, lead in our youth ministry, prayer ministry, hospitality committee, etc. this seminar is for you.
We'll put in a group registration so please call the CGC church office 250-537-2622 or email info@communitygospelchapel.com to reserve your space.

“A Missional Challenge for Church Leaders”
Saturday May 1 — 10 am to 3 pm
Cost: $ 20 includes lunch
I believe that leaders must be thinking about the future and watching for what God is dong so that we can be fruitful and faithful in our ministry. To that end I have had occasion over the last couple of years to take in several seminars and read a half dozen books on the theme of the ‘missional’ church and the challenge we have as church leaders to reach the next generations in Canada. But I have not significantly engaged in thinking, praying and sorting out what that means with my leadership team at Sonrise.
I have planned a day to resource my leaders at Sonrise with the challenge of future planning and ministry in Canada. I invite you to come along and bring a wide range of leadership from your church to this ‘thinktank’ event.
Wes Mills, President of ACOP, and Kenn Parker, who serves part time as the National Director of ACOP, will invest a day sharing with us the challenge of these times and the vision of applying missional strategies for our churches.
Sincerely, Stan Powers
